Ray tracing in ophthalmic finite element models for predicting of visual acuity enhancement

The project will extend biomechanical finite element models (FEM) of ocular tissue with optical ray tracing (ORT) capabilities in order to simulate and preview visual outcome of ophthalmic refractive surgery. The validity of the simulation will be tested experimentally with ray photography and wavefront measurements. Software predicting the visual outcome of astigmatic keratotomy and optimized crystalline lens cutting pattern will be finally delivered.
