Long-term urinary catheter for anti-infective application with sensor
We will develop a long-term urinary catheter for anti-infective application with sensor (LUCAAS). Antimicrobial agents firmly coat, and are integrated within, polymers forming the device. LUCAAS will reduce catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) and other opportunistic urinary infections, sense infection status in the bladder, and prevent the formation of resistant bacteria. Pre-clinical proof-of-concept will come from tests undertaken at a University-hospital in Denmark.
