Romania is participating in EUREKA since 1991, as an associated country.
On 19 June 1997, at the EUREKA Ministerial Conference in London, Romania became a EUREKA member country. The Ministry of Science and Technology was mandated by the Romanian Government as coordinator at national level to represent the Romanian interests in the EUREKA initiative.
The EUREKA Romanian office is hosted by the Ministry of Research and Innovation (MCI). The Romanian office provides consulting and information services.
Financing of EUREKA projects is assured through the funding agency, the Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI).
