Austria is one of the founding members of the EUREKA Initiative since 1985. Currently, several million Euro per year of public money are invested in the funding of market-oriented R&D projects with excellent results for Austrian companies and research institutions. From the very beginning, Austria has also been involved in the funding programme Eurostars, run jointly by EUREKA and the European Union. Consequently, the successor programme Eurostars-2 receives the full support by the Austrian government.
Besides the bottom-up projects generated by companies themselves, Austria actively supports the following EUREKA strategic initiatives:
Other EUREKA strategic initiatives (other Clusters, Umbrellas) are support on project level.
The Eurostars-2 programme started with its first cut-off date in March 2014. The Austrian funding authorities have earmarked a budget of 3.5 Mio € for each year of the programme.
