Eurostars matchmaking 5.4.2016 Helsinki

Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation, together with Vinnova, the Innovation Agency of Sweden, arranged a matchmaking event for Nordic private companies and organisations on ICT in Helsinki in the beginning of April 2016. The target group was the companies with ICT solutions for smart cities and the aim of the event was for companies to find international collaborators for innovative projects. The one day- event was a success; about 300 participants, 150 private companies from Finland, Sweden, all around Europe and also as far as Korea and Chile were participating.

After the opening words from Tekes and Vinnova, the participants heard the presentation of the smart city Helsinki, Kalasatama area presented by the project manager Veera Mustonen from ForumVirium Helsinki. Veera Mustonen showed how piloting smart services together with real life citizens in Kalasatama is done to promote the companies with new references. The Eurostars funding instrument was presented by project officer from EUREKA Secretariat, Matteo Fedeli. Matteo Fedeli presented the criteria for an eligible Eurostars-project and after him, innovation director and member of the Evaluation Panel Eurostars, Dr.  Jatta Jussila-Juokas from Haaga-Helia University presented the two step evaluation for the projects to fill the criteria.

Before dividing into Intelligent transport systems- and Smart built and digital services –sessions, project manager Karin Wikman from Tekes introduced the Smart City program with three themes being transport, building and energy together with digitalisation as horizontal theme in the program. The morning session ended with the presentation of Tekes funded development project, consisting a 3D environment for city developers called Mapgets, presented by chief product owner Anssi Savisalo from FCG Finnish Consulting Group.
